"I was truly amazed, and I'm not just talking about the Shakespeare.   It's all the other things that go along with it - the extraordinary civility of the children."
- Michael York

Oregon Shakespeare Festival

Each summer, the Wake Up With Will Students earn a trip to Ashland for the Oregon Shakespeare Festival.

These 50 students have spent a year on Saturday mornings studying the Bard in addition to preparing for college. The students spend 11 days at the Festival and see 7-8 productions.

Actor Dan Donohoe meets the kids

While in Ashland, studying Shakespeare takes a back seat to learning about life. The kids budget their money, organize their rooms, and plan their days independently of adult chaperones. Whether they are watching Hamlet, tipping a waiter, playing tennis, or reading in Lithia Park, these students are preparing for life. They do not simply make it to college - the life skills learned in Ashland insure that they finish college.
